The Trouble with Believing

Gingerly, Magnum picked up Sgt. Braddick’s cell phone to get a better look at the photo. The dead girl had dark hair. Both eyes were blackened, one swollen shut, the other, a narrow slit that gazed into nothingness. A prickling began at the back of her neck. Magnum felt flushed.
Could it be? Though she had only met the girl once, she prayed to be wrong.
“You know her?” Braddick prodded.
“It might be Aysu,” she said, weakly.
She looked away from the photo and wondered what sort of a religion approved the murder of children and called it honorable?
After this Muslim honor killing and then the twisted crimes of a Bible Thumper’s daughter, Magnum begins to question the morality of religions in general.
